Daybook...

I've been redoing my daybook and putting it all in my new blue binder and also working on a craft binder, adding lots of images to everything and getting inspiration from Victoria magazine, I will share more of my daybook soon.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Holiday Craft-medallion ornaments

I recently googled and found out how to make these after wondering for quite awhile how people were making these. Now I'm addicted to making them, the process is simple and fun and then I love adding the decorations and tinsel to them and making them sparkly.

The directions:
For the paper I like vintage music and book sheets and scrapbook paper...
1. cut a piece of paper 4 1/4x 6 3/4 inches then fold accordian style about 1/2 in at time lengthwise
2. then fold that in half
3. use hot glue to attach the folds together
4. then hot glue all the pieces together (make 3 or 4 pieces glued together)
Tip you can also experiment with all different sizes of paper for a different look
Then use hot glue to add tinsel, paper, stickers and embellishments and have fun decorating
Attach ribbon to the back with hot glue or tape

Art Journaling...

On this most recent page I found some little sentences that I cut out of Victoria Magazine and they felt like little New Year wishes....In praise of creative pursuits, Growing a business, A sharing of Hearts and Hands, At home with nature, An indoor garden, Read with tea, Pen & Paper, Original jewelry, Where Flowers Gather Friends
These pages are the inspiration of a peaceful art space...
and here is just a simple to do list and watercolor inspiration, a photo from victoria magazine of an inspirational watercolor artist...
and these last pages are a quote I like, I'm not sure who and a simple little holiday list cut out from magazines, and a pretty cup of tea.

holiday journal

This year I will follow along with Hope Wallace Karney on her December Daily-Reverb 13 journal, she posts a question everyday to help you look back on the past year and look forward to the coming year, so this is the cover of mine and then I prepared the 31 different days and bound it all with rings. It was fun putting it all together ahead of time and now it's all ready for the holiday season. I will include journal writing and pictures in it.

Art Every Day Month-part four

Well I'm just about finished with AEDM , it went by so fast and I'm really glad I pushed myself to do this challenge, it was a lot of fun.
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Art Every Day Month-part three

more drawings for AEDM, my focus is to do seven drawings a week, so if I miss a day I do more than one the next day because I just wasn't able to do it everyday. My main focus in this sketchbook is doing flower borders and ideas for little labels and things and it has helped to have the focus of this project and to blog about it once a week.  It's been a lot of fun and now I have just one week left...

more art journaling...

in what I like to think of as my big girl coloring book, a place to doodle and write and draw and just have fun. I tend to loose track of time when I'm playing in this journal. I like searching for quotes to add in as well.

Art Every Day Month:part two

A few more pages from Art Every Day Month, I missed a few days but then got back on track. I'm really enjoying doing little drawings with an autumn thanksgiving feel to them, I usually draw flowers all of the time so this is something different and fun, it is my favorite time of year after all...

Fall craft projects

This week I worked on a couple of fall craft projects inspired by other blogs, like these little mushrooms made out of acorns found here and a felt leaf garland from Pam Garrisons blog that was a lot of fun, mine is smaller than hers so it really didn't take very long. She also has another version of a fall garland found here, so I might try that one too. I love making crafts at this time of year, it must be something about the cooler days, it's just very relaxing.

Art Every Day Month

Through other blogs I found out about a project called Art Every Day Month which Leah Piken hosts on her blog every November. I should have done a post earlier if anyone is interested in taking part, but you can join at any time and the goal is just to do something creative everyday. I like this project because I'm not usually good at doing a project everyday, and I decided to work in my idea sketchbook  right now I'm doing drawings inspired by fall and Thanksgiving. I'll try and do a post once a week or so and hopefully I can stay with the project the whole month.

on my desk right now...

I just bought a set of three moleskine notebooks and I painted the front of one with roses and will use it for notes, lists, and ideas and it's sitting on top of my new Russell and Hazel binder that just arrived from amazon. I am a little obsessed with binders and notebooks and organizers and I love looking at how other people set up there binders and that is how I found out about this one, which I really love. It's thin and covered in light blue linen and I can't wait to organize it and use it.

art journal- collage pages

on this page I added cutouts from a book one says develop a sense of the sacred and the other says summoning the sacred and when I thought about what that meant to me I think of nature so I added a little pocket with a card that says favorite trails and I wrote my favorite nature trails on there.

I also added a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that I really like:
"I wish that life should not be cheap, but sacred, I wish the days to be as centuries, loaded, fragrant."

Lately...

I've been adding inspiration to my idea book,

sketching my little collection of vases,

doing some embroidery doodles for practice,

making more project life cards which are really addictive to make,

happy that there is finally some fall color outside my window,

and some pretty mums on the patio, mixed with bright pink geraniums, these colors make me happy.

craft project-paper flower garland

This is a little project I made with flower cutouts using scrapbook paper. Then I used a needle with twine
and added them on to make a small garland. You have to be careful and try not to poke your finger as you thread the needle through. I poked myself a couple of times. :)
